About Me

Introduction

Hello! My name is Trent Hope. I am 21 years old and reside in Forsyth County, Ga. I am somewhere in between my junior and senior year of college at North Georgia College and State University where I am majoring in History and minoring in Sociology. Why am I doing that? I love history and while I would love to be a history teacher, my heart is working for God in His church doing production and design. In fact, I already know my purpose:

To create environments that foster love and create community

My Purpose

Let me delve into what I just said a little further. I have done production in some way or fashion in the church since I was in 8th grade. It is in my blood. I love worshipping God through creating evironments and settings where everyone else can focus and experience Him. I love to draw, create movies, design environments, goof off, plan events and services, ect. I am a production guy.

COLLEGE

So how does history and sociology fit into all of this? Well, to be quite frank. I don’t want to go to college another 3 years for a teaching degree. I am ready to get out and explore, innovate, evolve. I want to go to seminary and study church media/telecommunications. I want to be involved in production and youth ministry at churches around Atlanta and even at conferences and mission trips around the world. History and sociology can only help me achieve these goals.

BigStuf and what He did

I went to Kenya during the summer of 2007 with BigStuf. It rocked my world. I had dreamed of going to Kenya since I was in 7th grade when I met a missionary and his wife who lived and worked in Ethiopia. Since the week I spent with them at camp, Gid has cultivated in me the desire to see His world. Africa was where he placed my heart, and he specifically marked Kenya. BigStuf in 2006 offered to let me go with them to Africa, but it wasn’t Kenya and for some crazy reason my heart and God told me to wait. So the following spring, none other than Suzanne Barber of 410 Bridge (started by BigStuf’s Lanny Donoho) called me and said she really wanted me to go. So with no application video and barely any time I gave her my application and did an interview at the BigStuf house and was accepted right on the spot. WOW! Ever since then my heart has been encompassed by God showing me how great He is through BigStuf, Kenya, my team, Suzanne and Joey (my leaders), my church (Mountain Lake), and my family and friends.

So what now?

To be honest, something BIG is coming for me, and each day I grow more restless and more antzy for what God is about to do with me. I am very impacient and ready to be let loose and go out into the world again. I have a heart that craves to be all for Him and leading everyone around me to experience how awesome our God is.

Update: (Feb ‘09) I am going to be going back to Kenya this summer as well as interning with BigStuf Camps! This page will be updated in the coming weeks!
